Job Description:

Project Improvement
Manage multiple assigned projects that improves manufacturing capability.
Provide feedback to tooling and the tool component manufacturers with regards to quality concerns and to facilitate improvements.
Coordinate with and consult other workers to design, lay out, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems.
Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for molds/mold components, tools, production equipment and inspection fixtures/tools using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment
Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
Use and work with general QC equipment, including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, optical comparator, indicators and other mechanical inspection equipment.
Identify critical to function dimensions on the mold component as it relates to the finished product
Coordinate with other manufacturing vendors with regards to tool design, delivery and quality.
Gather and secure parts and or components that require measurements and or reports.
Lead/Participate in Kaizen and PSP activities.
Production support
Troubleshoot and resolve problems with production processes, equipment and tools.
Coordinate with various departments to execute and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Documentation
Create, revise, update Procedures/work instructions, requalification documents. Route documents for approval and release
Develop measurement and inspection methods on the tool and molded component for these critical dimensions.
Develop and create inspection standards and forms for mold components.
Generate and or review work orders and drawings for tool component modifications.

Others
Completes assignments and facilitates the work activities of others; may coordinate work beyond own area
Proposes improvements to processes and methods
Acts as a lead, coordinating the work of others
Works autonomously within established procedures and practices
TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES: (REQUIRED)
Complete all assigned and required training satisfactorily and on time

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education or Experience:
High School degree (or equivalent experience) with 6+ years of related work experience OR
AA or Technical Trade Degree with 5+ years of related work experience OR
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or relevant engineering field + 3 years of related work experience OR
Master's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or relevant engineering field + 0-1 years of related work experience

Knowledge and skills:
Excellent knowledge of CAD software. (SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
Basic understanding of Kaizen principles, quality system requirements and compliance issues
Proficiency in Office software. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
Strong written and communication skills
Good organization and documentation skills.
Ability to multi-task.
Ability to identify and solve problems.
Have attention to detail
Understand and knowledge of plastics injection molding

Physical requirements/abilities:
Must be able to lift 25 lbs. Must be able to stand for several hours. Work may involve repetitive arm/wrist motions.
