innovation!The Role:The core focus will be driving strategic
partnerships and monetization opportunities in the smart home
ecosystem. As the Senior Business Development Manager focused on
monetization, you will play a critical role in shaping strategic
partnerships, identifying new revenue streams, and executing
business models that expand our monetization capabilities. This
position will require an individual with strong financial acumen,
exceptional negotiation skills, and a proven ability to build and
nurture partnerships that generate revenue.Key ResponsibilitiesThis
position is a hybrid role, based onsite 3 days a week at our office
in Mountain View, CA. In this role, your primary responsibilities
will include the following:Market Analysis
- Analyze industry trends, emerging technologies, competitive
landscape, and customer insights to identify new opportunities for
expansion across market verticals, product categories, and
experiences within the smart home space.
- Develop business cases for potential new product offerings or
features, including market sizing and financial modeling.Identify
and Secure Monetization Opportunities
- Lead efforts to identify, evaluate, and secure new business
partnerships that align with our strategic goals and drive revenue
growth.
- Collaborate with partners to identify high-value revenue
opportunities, define partnership models, and negotiate favorable
financial terms.
- Develop financial models to assess partnership proposals,
project revenue potential, and forecast financial impact. Ensure
models align with overall company objectives.Go-to-Market Strategy
- Collaborate with product, marketing, and engineering teams to
evaluate and define go-to-market strategies for new product
categories, features, services, and monetization initiatives,
including subscription models, partnerships, and licensing
agreements.
- Influence the product roadmap based on market trends, partner
requirements, and monetization assessments, and partnership
business models.
- Lead the negotiation, structuring, and execution of strategic
partnerships with device manufacturers, service providers,
technology platforms, ISPs, and other third-party partners.
- Identify and onboard new partners that enhance the value of
SmartThings, ensuring that all partnerships are scalable and
aligned with the company's long-term goals.Skills, Knowledge and

Day One (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science,
or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree
preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in business development, sales, or
strategy, focused on smart home, IoT, or related technologies.
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex
partnerships with global device manufacturers, service providers,
and platform partners.
- Experience in developing and executing monetization strategies
across subscription models, licensing agreements, and/or
ecosystem-driven business models.
- Strong experience working with cross-functional teams (product,
engineering, marketing, etc.) to execute business development
initiatives.
- Willingness to travel 20% of time, including international
travel.Strategic and Analytical Thinking
- Strong ability to assess new market opportunities, analyze
customer data, and build comprehensive business cases.
- Demonstrated success in identifying, developing, and scaling
new business opportunities that drive revenue growth.
- Deep understanding of smart home ecosystems, including
technologies, devices, services, and market dynamics.Partnership &
Negotiation Skills
- Exceptional negotiation, deal structuring, and partnership
management skills.
- Strong ability to influence and build consensus among internal
and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to navigate complex, high-stakes negotiations
and establish win-win partnerships.Leadership & Communication
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to influence
stakeholders, as well as collaborate with senior executives.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience
presenting to executive leadership and external partners.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment,
balancing strategic priorities with day-to-day execution.Technical
Knowledge
- Solid understanding of smart home technologies, IoT, AI, cloud
platforms, and device integrations.
- Experience working with technology and product teams to align

range for this position is $151,600 to $227,400. Actual base within
this range will depend on many factors including experience,
skills, technical expertise, and market alignment. In addition,
this role is eligible for a 20% annual target bonus based heavily
