Job Description:

Under limited supervision, the Health & Safety Technician is responsible for supporting and promoting health & safety (H&S) performance to include development, review and oversight of H&S programs, procedures, standards and training. Working as an internal consultant, provide direct support to TFE departments and employees with regard to mitigating risk and promoting H&S programs and services by evaluating, developing, and implementing safety and injury prevention programs that support a culture of safety awareness with employees, visitors, and company events.

Responsible for understanding H&S Management System related support activities.
Conducts periodic H&S audits to identify and make recommendations to correct unsafe conditions and work practices
Assists H&S Team in maintaining compliance with the Illness and Injury Prevention Plan including but not limited to:
Lockout Tagout and Machine Safety training & audits
Powered Industrial Trucks, Aerial Lifts training & audits
Confined Space Entry training & audits
Fall Protection training, inspections and audits
Respirator Fit Testing and Training
Emergency Action Plan (EAP), fall rescue and confined space rescue drills, emergency planning & EAP training
Safe use, storage and disposal of chemicals
Works with departments to performs periodic audits of programs/procedures & work areas and recommends appropriate corrective actions.
Actively engages with various H&S committees and improvement teams to support continuous improvement in the area of compliance, culture and behavior.
Helps to develop H&S procedures, policies and training to assure compliance with governmental regulations.
Prepares H&S summary reports and evaluates potential health hazards and recommends engineering & administrative controls and personal protective equipment.
Assists in the development of H&S course, schedules and tracks employee training and does a wide range of H&S training.
May assist with supporting Industrial Hygiene (IH) monitoring (noise surveys, ventilation surveys, personal & area sampling), prepares reports and recommends corrective actions
Supports the evaluation, distribution and management of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other H&S supplies
H&S Compliance Training - Updates training materials and information for required Compliance Training and Tailgates.
Performs Ergonomic Reviews and assures corrective actions are complete
Other H&S duties as assigned

Education: 4 year technical degree, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering or similar fields, preferred. 8-10 years operational experience in lieu of degree considered.
Experience: 3-5 years H&S related experience in an industrial/winery environment
Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred
OSHA 30 Hour General Industry or Construction or equivalent certification preferred
Professional Certification (CIH, CSP, CST, ASP, etc.) from a nationally recognized organization desirable
Certification as Competent Person for Fall Protection, Confined Space or the ability to obtain those after employment
Certification by a nationally recognized company for First Aid, CPR and AED or the ability to obtain those after employment
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a technical environment
Ability to communicate clearly both in written correspondence and verbally
Ability to work well in a team environment and handle numerous projects at one time
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage time appropriately
Excellent organizational and follow-up skills. Frequent deadlines
Excellent Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Access)
Ability to work well with outside agencies and customers as well as winery employees and contractors
Ability to work with confidential information on a regular basis
Valid CA driver's license with good driving record

Working Conditions: Moderate to heavy physical work
Extensive walking and lifting of up to 55 pounds
Work site may be any one of Trinchero Family Estates' facilities
Standing for long periods of time (8 hours per day)
Must comply with all safety equipment requirements including ear plugs and safety glasses
Exposure to various chemicals in production areas
Exposure to machinery, forklifts and related production equipment
Long and irregular hours during peak periods or on various shifts
