Role Summary

The Infotainment Team is at the core of reimagining what electric vehicles can be. We are seeking a Staff or Senior Embedded Engineer with expertise in functional safety and diagnostics, particularly in displays, touch, and power management. The ideal candidate will have experience with Linux kernel drivers, writing diagnostics to monitor HW faults, DTC's, UDS, ISO 26262, and working on functional safety for electric vehicles.
Responsibilities

• Develop and implement diagnostic strategies for fault detection, isolation, and recovery in safety-critical ECUs and Embedded Linux/Android environments.
• Conduct or participate in HARA, FMEA, FMEDA, and FTA during concept and design phases.
• Review and give feedback on technical safety concepts, safety requirements, architecture decomposition, and safety mechanisms.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, and FuSa engineers to integrate safety requirements into product development.
• Create and maintain functional safety documentation in compliance with ISO 26262 development.
• Serve as the go-to technical expert on diagnostics and safety for the infotainment group.
  Qualifications
  
  
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in embedded/automotive product development, with a focus on functional safety and diagnostics.
  • Embedded Linux/Android Kernel Development (drivers, device tree, etc)
  • Experience with automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet) and diagnostic standards (UDS, OBD).
  • Worked on both SoC and MCU.
  • Strong debugging skills
  • Strong understanding of embedded software/hardware systems and safety architecture.
  • Familiarity with hardware schematics
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
    • Experience with manufacturing and EOL tests.
    • Knowledge of display CRC

      Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants:186,000 USD - 232,000 USD (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).Benefits Summary:Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26.
