Title: WiFi Engineer Location: 1 Hacker Way Menlo Park CA 94025
Pay range: $55-60/HR Responsibilities to include but not be limited
to the following • Design high performance wireless networks and
solutions that conform to the latest industry security standards
and best practices. • Collaborate with customers and
cross-functional teams to translate the user requirements and use
cases into appropriate network solutions and associated
deliverables. • Define and develop criteria for evaluating and
selecting Wireless Platforms/Solutions. • Execute the test plan and
publish a comparison report among participating OEMs. • Integration
of OEM platforms with Client Prod Tooling stack for Fault,
Configuration, Accounting, Performance & Security (FCAPS). •
Wireless platforms release management o Create a comprehensive list
of use cases/scenarios to be tested. o Review reports provided by
manufacturers, including release notes, dependencies, caveats, and
affected bugs, and update guidance accordingly. o Track new
features on OEM Roadmap. o Track critical open issues and fixes
with OEM TAC. o Track open security vulnerabilities and fixes. o
Define an upgrade cadence and rollout plan for production.
Coordinate the upgrades in validation lab (ie. Validation Chambers
and WLCs) and prod rollout. o Setup/write automated Wi-Fi tests for
Continuous Integration(CI) and release validation (bug scrub). o
Provide support and guidance to wireless network operations team
for troubleshooting (Client and Network side) critical issues and
L3 escalations. o Participate in the development and improvement of
processes, metrics, tools, alerting, and scripts to optimize
network performance and ensure reliable operations. This includes
identifying opportunities for automation and solutions that enhance
monitoring capabilities, streamline processes, and reduce human
error. o Proactively contribute to and maintain technical/training
documentation. Network Design and Planning: Developing detailed
network architecture plans incorporating IPv4 and IPv6 addressing
schemes to accommodate current and future network requirements, to
meet organizational needs and future growth. Using protocols such
as BGP/MP-BGP, EVPN VXLAN and OSPF for efficient and scalable
network routing. Installation and Configuration: Navigating
difficult issues in supporting existing deployment teams involving
a strong technical, strategic and collaborative approach. Setting
up network devices with advanced protocols features BGP/MP-BGP,
EVPN VXLAN. DHCP, supporting both IPv4 and DHCPv6 for IPv6.
Configuring DNS for resolving domain names to both IPv4 and IPv6
addresses. Implementing stateful and stateless firewalls to control
incoming and outgoing network traffic based on predetermined
security rules. Assessment and Planning: Conducting a thorough
analysis of the existing networks. Developing a detailed migration
plan, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk
assessment. Creating comprehensive documentation for both the
legacy and new networks. Configuring new hardware and software
according to the design specifications. Performing rigorous testing
to ensure functionality, performance, and compatibility. Executing
the migration plan with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
Coordinating with cross-functional teams to manage dependencies and
resolve issues promptly. Maintenance and Support: Using
SNMP/NetFlow/sFlow/ICMP/syslog for monitoring and managing network
performance. Regularly updating firewall rules and configurations
to protect against emerging threats. Monitoring the old and new
network to ensure stability and 3 performance. Providing pre and
post-migration support for old and new network architectures.
Troubleshooting to address any complex issues that arise. Security
Management: Implementing security protocols such as IPSec for
secure network communications in both IPv4 and IPv6 environments.
Employing RADIUS/Pi servers for centralized authentication. Work
with multiple Client teams to perform setup, configuration, and
testing in lab and pre-field environments of networking solutions
in support of validation and acceptance testing phases. Recommended
Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer
Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical
experience. • CCNA, CCIE, or similar >> CCNP or CCIE or
equivalent • Experience in enterprise Wi-Fi design, deployment and
at scale operation including configuration, monitoring and
troubleshooting. Experience with Tier 1 Wi-Fi vendors ecosystem -
Cisco, Meraki, Arista, Mist etc. Experience in system test, RF
Survey, Optimization, Wi-Fi Alliance (WFA) Certifications Lab, Test
Automation, validation on commercial Residential/Enterprise Access
point/Controller products and Customer support. • Experience with
Wi-Fi protocols as defined by IEEE 802.11 family of
standards(a/b/g/n/ac/ax). • Experience working with Bluetooth and
familiarity with its various versions. • Thorough understanding of
Wi-Fi security standards, including WPA2 & WPA3, as well as
Extensible Authentication Protocol(EAP). • Experience with
implementation, configuration and troubleshooting of Wi-Fi
supplicant and client/device stack, specifically focusing on
Android and iOS Wi-Fi stack. • Planning & Survey Tools: AirMagnet,
Ekahu etc. • Testing Tools: Spectrum Analyzer, IxVeriwave,
IxChariot traffic generator, iperf3, Wireshark, Omnipeek, Spirent
C-50, NetScout, Octoscope Box. • Familiarity with Source Control
Systems (Git). • Bug management tools such as Jira, Bugzilla etc. •
Familiarity with scripting Languages: Shell, Python, Go. Ability to
code for scripting / automation. DevOps CI/CD mindset for
automation and scale. • Platforms: Windows, Linux, Android, MacOS.
• Networking Protocols: TCP/IP, DHCP, SNMP, DNS, FTP, SMTP, ICMP,
STP. • RADIUS Servers: Free RADIUS Server, HOSTAPD(Linux),
Microsoft IAS and other AAA platforms. • Expertise in various types
of testing including Functional, Feature Testing, Integration test,
Performance testing, Stress and System testing on Wi-Fi and
Bluetooth products. • Subject matter expertise of routing and
switching protocols: TCP/IP fundamentals, IPv4/v6, BGP/MP-BGP,
ISIS, OSPF, MPLS, EVPN VXLAN, IP sub-netting and super-netting and
hierarchical routing principles, routing protocol operation routing
policies at BGP peering points VPNs and the associated tunneling
technologies such as IPSEC, L2TP, MPLS, etc Previous experience
with network equipment vendor products (e.g., Juniper, Cisco,
Arista, OEM). Comfortable with Linux or other UNIX implementations,
with scripting skills. Experience with python scripting / ansible
for scripting and automation Ability to “read code” as source
documentation
